Iris and GDO

Iris and Shield is a protective barrier that is installed on a stargate. This protective barrier is installed in the stargate in a predefined slot. This barrier serves to defend against raiders over servers or against aggressive and friendly mobs that pass through the stargate through the Random Incoming Generator aka RIG.

Variants

The iris is a mechanical protection for the stargate and is available in several tiers according to durability. Each iris is gradually worn out not only mechanically but also thermally, and once its maximum wear occurs - the durability drops to 0, it is destroyed.

Advanced variant of the iris is a shield that has no durability. The shield needs energy to operate, every time something hits the shield, it consumes energy and there is a fluctuation in energy. If the shield is heated, there is a higher energy consumption. The shield cannot be physically destroyed, but it can be broken through by the gate running out of energy and the shield collapsing.

Operating modes

Defensive barriers can be operated at several points of operation:



Open	Closed	Automatic	Computer	Dialer

Open - Defense barrier is permanently open
Closed - Defense barrier is permanently closed
Automatic - Defense barrier automatically closes upon incoming wormhole and can be opened by entering code using GDO
Computer - Defensive barrier is controlled by computers from [ComputerCraft] or [OpenComputers] mods
Dialer - Defense barrier can be controlled using universe dialer

Garage Door Opener (GDO)

Garage Door Opener aka GDO (or Iris Opener) is used as the primary method to send the IDC - identification code and thus open the iris defense barrier.

Operation of GDO

To send IDC, simply select the GDO in active slot in inventory and click right mouse button. At this point, is possible to enter IDC using the numeric keypad (0 - 9) to send entered code press Enter key. To cancel entry mode can be done by pressing Esc key.
